Alabama Tornado Relief

Myself and some of our church friends went to 2 different towns and dropped off supplies and then served in  soup kitchen over the weekend. We went to Russelville, Alabam to drop off secondary supplies and a couple pallets of immediate relief items such as water, diapers, gatorade, canned goods, and a lot of dog food. We then spent the night in florence where The Ziglers (my aunt, uncle and family) opened their home to all 14 of us, and fed us a delicious dinner and had doughnuts and coffee in the morning. We then drove to Phil Campbell to drop off a trailer full of immediate supplies and served in a soup kitchen. It was a humbling experience.

moon&stars

I am in Ellijay Georgia for the weekend. My aunt and uncle own a cabin here that we frequently all gather. I picked my parents up and drove straight through to Georgia and we got here around 3am, my coffee is still wearing off so I decided to write a little and then I saw the stars and laid outside for a half-hour until I was shaking from being cold. I grabbed my camera last minute and setit to 30 seconds, tomorrow I am gonna try for a half hour and maybe an hour. If they work out then I will post them as well. The moon photo is from a couple weeks back in ohio. The moon was really close and I shot it with my 300mm, I like how crisp it turned out.

fashion photography week7

this week at fashion photography class we went to the comet. It was an old bar that had an awesome environment for these shots. There were these awesome windows on the front and sides of the buildings, and also neon lights that were on each window. If you notice there are in fact fake mice in their hair. It is kind of hilarious but also just adds a different spin on the lonely person at the bar. To me it translates the only thing that she wants around is her liquor and whatever wont judge her.

This was the last fashion photography class I had through Prairie, but I have my own ideas that could be interesting shoots.

Tonight we shot final projects for students in the DAAP program. Originally we took on one design and designer the week before. That day there was a big accident that resulted in heavy traffic which led to delayed or no-show photographers. It took me 2 hours to make a 45 minute trip. anyways about the photography, I shot 3 designers and a total of 6 models. It was a whirlwind of shooting and clothes and hair and makeup. the 3 styles were recycled, natural, and futuristic.

Braizee Street Studios. Cincinnati has a ton of awesome places to create and view art. This happens to be one of the coolest. I dont have much to say except I pulled the trigger on my camera 688 times. yes sir, i took an amazing amunt of photos. The tubes were my favorite thing, and I dont know if you spotted it but that is an apron dress thats pretty dang sweet from brush factory.

This shoot was at voltage furniture store in cinci. I was a little intimidated by the prices of the furniture and not wanting to move it. I got over it and set up some of these shots, but this was not my favorite shoot. It was still a really interesting experience and I got good stuff from it.

fashion photography week3

Week 3- first model shoot

Looking through my first actual model shoot and I cant believe its over. I saw a few problems with leaving auto-focus on so I will be manual focusing all next shoot. My metering was as good as it could get with the lights. It was very dark in the building we were in.

Speaking of the building, it is an abandoned building in cincinnati that they are starting construction on next month to make them loft apartments. I did have to get used to sharing the subject of the pictures but everyone else was as timid as I was at the beginning so I wanted to make sure that I got the pictures I wanted and got in close like we were instructed. nobody was giving much direction so I am very glad the models were kind of given an idea before they got there.

Here are some of my favorites from tonight, they are unedited, so yeah and the noise that you might see is from the iso being so high.

fashion photography week2

Week 2-lighting

This is my neweat passion. Lighting, i so badly want to experiment with different placements, filters, harshness, softness, brightness... i have a new love he is hootie the grey card. He makes shabby lighting look great! Me oh my. I am so tempted to break out my slef made softbox and make more and bring a friend over to model for me. I am restraining until this next week. I did find out for sure models will be at the next shoot! One drawback with that though.2 models, 8 photographers, i think i might have to be aggressive,...B-E- AGGRESSIVE (random chearleading quote).
